Introduction
About the paintings
The 'Paintings' album is a work in progress. A bit hastily I just picked a few portraits to show right away, but the quality of the photos is not what I aim for, so better and more will be added. Please check again later, I'm working on it.
All these portraits are acrylic on board and about the same size; approx. 40cm by 40cm.
Some models are friends and their family, some were strangers sitting again and again so I learned to know them a bit.
Others again were just in once, but the short time I spent with them was intensely focused so I remember certain details very well. Not always their name though.
I don't intend to do elaborate studies. The portraits are more like sketches since they were completed during one sitting or less. A sitting usually takes about three hours of twenty minute poses with ten minute brakes.
If I loose consentration during the brake I normally start fresh again rather than altering. At times I have been able to continue working on the same pose for a whole sitting; that means about two hours effective work.
Two hours or twenty minutes - it doesn't always make a difference.
Oftentimes it's better to be forced to stop in time.
These portraits form the base for other works; as digital images or in other techniques.
